L and I took a lovely walk on a mild, sunny day last week to the Landschaftspark Herzberge in the Lichtenberg neighborhood-and then I accidentally formatted my memory card and deleted all of the photos I took. So, when we woke up to a sunny Sunday it was the perfect time to suggest we return this time with kids in tow. By the time we got out the door the skies were grey again and it was actually quite cold but we braved the walk anyway. To get there you have to walk through Lichtenberg one of the ugliest, grittiest neighborhoods we have seen so far. Row houses, bland high rises, post war concrete buildings - many of them now abandoned, but I loved every minute of it and in the end you end up in a nature preserve that save the power lines and graffiti could almost be Maine. We even stumbled upon a football match.
