We traveled to Dresden on Saturday- an easy not quite two hour train ride from Berlin on a Hungarian train (heading on to Prague and Budapest) that seemed as though it was from the seventies- with decor that featured oranges and browns and large carpet swatches on the ceilings. Dresden had a lot to offer for a day trip and we clearly weren't the only ones who thought so. It felt as though we timed our arrival with that of the tour buses from Poland and the Czech Republic. But at least it was easy to find our way- we just followed the crowds. In addition to a lot of impressive Baroque architecture, I really enjoyed the retro feel to the entire city. It really felt as though we had been transported to another time and we saw a lot of people wearing old time hats- not knit or baseball- but proper out for the day hats.
Then on Sunday we celebrated L's birthday with a bit of family football, some southern Indian food and cake. A nice weekend for sure.
